We make a number of memorial bench seats every year, and we've come to understand that these builds carry a different kind of weight. A family isn't choosing a bench because they need somewhere to sit, they're choosing something that will hold a memory, quietly, in a garden or a park, for years or decades to come. We take that seriously.
Choosing the timber
Most memorial seats we build use Ironbark or seasoned Spotted Gum, both native Australian hardwoods known for how gracefully they age outdoors. Over time these timbers weather to a soft silver-grey patina, which many families tell us feels right for memorial garden furniture: it changes gently with the seasons, the way a memory does.
The plaque
Getting the plaque right matters more than almost any other detail. We work closely with each family on sizing, wording and placement, and we're happy to recommend a plaque maker if needed. There's no rush on getting this part right, we'd rather wait an extra few days for the right words than push a family to decide before they're ready.
Care, and time, when it's needed
We know that memorial timber furniture is often needed for a specific date, an anniversary, a service, a moment that matters. Where we can, we offer shorter lead times for memorial builds, and we stay in direct, personal contact throughout, so a family always knows where things stand without having to chase us for updates.
Built to last
Above all, a memorial bench is meant to last. We build every one the same way we build our heirloom furniture: solid joinery, structurally graded timber, made to still be standing, and still holding that memory, in twenty years' time.
